One Ring. Accidental Voice
Sam? Samwise Gamgee?
... What an awful mistake I've made. Things all went black, and a sharp pain filled me, deep in my back and heart and encompassed me whole. This place, it isn't the place I left. This is not the tunnel, not even the mountain pass.
This strange book, and these strange wings... what has happened to me? More aches, pains unfamiliar, are stuck in me, now. They run not as deep, but are strong enough for remembering. My task... no guide, no companion, my Sam... not even the voice in my head to give me any guide. The weight of the eye is gone, but now what am I to do?
Sam, oh Sam, I'm so sorry... I'm so sorry...

I-I thank you, sir. I have this feeling, a dreadful one, and it is strange but I must ask-- Is this land in Middle Earth? Where have I gone to?
Re: [Voice]
I'll apologize for eavesdropping, though.
And I'm sorry, but you're not in your own world anymore. I don't know where "Middle Earth" is, but it isn't here.
This place is called Luceti.
[Voice]
Is there a chance this land is that of the Elves, then? My apologies, but... this isn't making much sense. Is it perhaps that I'm dead?
Re: [Voice]
There are some villagers here who have died in their own worlds. But it certainly isn't compulsory.
And while there are probably a few elves in town, this isn't their world. It isn't really anyone's world, except the Malnosso's.
[Voice]
Who are the Malnosso?
Re: [Voice]
There's some debate still over whether or not they're the ones who brought you here, but they are the ones responsible for keeping the village comfortably supplied while at the same time being responsible for virtually all our misery here.

Re: [Voice]
It can actually be quite nice, here.
The last week of every month? That's when it gets...unfortunate.
[And, y'know, any other point at all if the droids decide to drag you off, but Giles decides that he's probably traumatized the New Feather enough for now.]

Re: [Voice]
...where are you? Can you see the village at all?
[Voice]
Re: [Voice]
There should also be a map somewhere in your journal.
[Voice]
Re: [Voice]
Which is to say, newcomers like yourself.
[Voice]
Re: [Voice]
...I'd offer to come and help, but I'm not in the best shape for going past the village, at the moment.
[Voice]
Have you been harmed, sir, or has illness befallen you? I'm sorry to hear that, so sorry.
Re: [Voice]
Bit of both, you might say. The main problem is that our captors saw fit to make me temporarily blind. So I'm not much help to you beyond explanations.
[Voice]
They took your sight? How so? By what means and for what madness did they take a man's eyes from him?
Re: [Voice]
...they did, yes. The means - I'd rather not shake you up further, thanks, not when you're not even in the village. [Because it involved quite a few surgeries and scalpels and needles and tests.] For what madness? A rather outdated inside joke, and seeing whether the blind have an easier or a harder time sleeping.
[Voice]
Y-Yes... a discussion for later times, when I've a better head for handling more stresses.
... People to mind... people to mind for sure.
Re: [Voice]
[His voice is light at the mention of a tea party, but sobers again at the mention of the Malnosso.] A discussion for never, if you'd prefer. The Malnosso are certainly people to mind, although I would hesitate even to apply the particular of "person". But, by and large, we just...haven't figured out how best to mind them, then.
[Voice]
That would be fine, too, but I would like to know more of these creatures, or people, or whatever beings they might be. I would not want to spoil tea and cakes with such a conversation, but at another time... being in darkness, I have done too much of it. I would like to know what to expect.
