★ Character Information ★
Character Name: Frodo Bagging
Character Age: Approx. 53, appears 33
Character Species: Hobbit (Halfling)
Current Health: Alive, missing half an index finger on his left hand (healed). Two reoccurring ailments from past wounds every year: one from the wound from the Witch-King on his shoulder (Oct 6) and illness from the sting from Shelob on his back (March 13). These wounds are incapable of fully healing.
Outfit: Frodo sports a white linen blouse, a pair of brown trousers, suspenders, a rust red vest, and a light brown overcoat.

Character Canon: Lord of the Rings
Link to History: https://lotr.fandom.com/wiki/Frodo_Baggins (History)
Canon Point: Right after he sails for the Grey Havens
Canon Iteration: Canon version (films for reference)!
Canon Iteration Explanation: N/A
★ Folkmore Roles & Attributes ★

Skills:
- Writing
- Multilingual
- The smallest bit of swordplay
- Hiding?
Canon Abilities: Some spirit sight/dreamsight. He can sometimes see distant events or see into the spirit world due to the Ring's influence. He has some ability to sense danger. Not as strong as a spidey-sense, but more than intuition. This was also granted by the prolonged exposure to the Ring.
Role: Legend
Role Qualities/Attributes: While Frodo is already a good deal brave, he will have his durability and his pain tolerance enhanced (hopefully to counteract his penchant for near getting killed every few weeks he's out of the Shire). His eyes will alter color with his emotions and will be as strikingly bold as his the current blue of his eyes.
Role Reasoning: Frodo is the definition of the unlikely hero. Despite his weakness, his naivety and the near-futility of the goal he set out to accomplish, he still made it through against all odds for the good of Middle Earth. He is the champion of the 'little guy' - literally - and shows that kindness, generousity, and selflessness are what make a hero truly great. From the empathy and gentleness he tried to share with Gollum to the acceptance of self-sacrifice he came to terms with along his journey, Frodo fits the role of a legend down to his ever-present potential to fall from grace should he fall too far into his own despair.
★ Personality ★

Option 2. Choose FOUR-FIVE of the following questions to answer and expand upon. You may choose a fifth question if you feel it is integral to your character's personality. Each answer has a 100-300 word requirement.

OPTION 2 QUESTIONS (PICK 4-5) 100-300 WORD LIMIT EACH:

  • What was the most traumatic experience your character endured? How did this change them?
  • Frodo's journey to Mordor is, overall, the most traumatic experience of his life. He spent a year facing certain death, loss of those close to him, the pain of his own burden as the Ring bearer and the fate of the world, and the suffering that comes with numerous near-fatal injuries both physical and mental. After his return, the naivety he held at the beginning of the story is well gone. He does not have the same kind of joy and energy he had before he left, but his appreciation for his home in the Shire and Bag End grew. He had a greater understanding and love for those closest to him and for the good that exists in the world, the good Sam spoke about to him. Physically, he had wounds that would not heal and left him with debilitating health issues two days out of every year on the anniversaries of when the wounds were received.

  • What experience challenged your character's core beliefs? How did they handle this or change from it?
  • Frodo's time venturing to Mount Doom challenge Frodo's feelings of wonder about the world and adventuring, as well as his understanding of good and evil in the world. While he'd been exposed to Bilbo's stories of the world and adventuring, he was still sheltered by the Shire and naive to the true evils in the world. There are times during his journey that he questions if there is good in still in the world in the presence of such darkness and the possibility of his own fall from grace are always on his mind. He questions why it must be him and if the journey is even possible. He questions why he should go on. The presence of Sam and his emotional stockiness and well of optimism is what gets him through. Because of Sam, he never fully loses faith and resists the urge to fall to the ring's seduction.

  • What does your character feel like they struggle with still? Where could they improve? This could be physically, mentally, emotionally, or otherwise.
  • Frodo still struggles with the fatigue and trauma of the journey to Mordor. While he manages as well as any other person, his adventure is meant to reflect Tolkien's experiences during the war on some level, and, as such, he carried similar physical, mental and emotional scars as anyone would after such a long, deadly and soul-shaking adventure. When considering improvement, Frodo likely wants to find a place of peace and a solution to his physical ailments. It's been a while for him at this canon point since his journey, but he still has a lot to untangle. He'd probably like to regain some of the energy that he lost over that time.

  • Is your character capable of forgiveness or will they hold a grudge until they die? Would anything ever make them change their mind?

  • Frodo's ability to forgive can come at a fault sometimes. His patience, pity and forgiveness towards Gollum lead to his vulnerability around him, but it is also part of why they are able to make it into Mordor thanks to Gollum's guide work. He also forgives Boromir for his trespass, taking to heart that the Ring's influence is what caused him to betray Frodo, not Boromir's own nature. Someone, or something, murdering those he loves the most would probably be enough to grow a grudge in him, as he does not find it in him to mindlessly forgive everything. He does not forgive Sauron for his evil or the Orcs and Nazgul for harming him and killing members of the Fellowship.

[ This is quite the writing, here. Very elaborate with strange markings on the letters, but readable. ]

Once, there was a man who was not quite a man who was, one day, given the burden of a tending a beast. The beast needed led far, far from the village the man felt to be a part of his own heart, back to its home. It was an evil beast, capable of unspeakable atrocities should the wrong man take its reins and claim it as his own. All manner of creature, all races, were liable to be tempted by the power and darkness the beast bore in its breast.

Somehow, the man was the only one capable of resisting the allure of the beast's power. While he had a party, strong and dedicated, to keep his company and watch over him, it was inevitable that they were at a great risk, as they may be enchanted by the beast. The man did not want to see these great fighters, these loyal companions and friends, fall to the beast and he trekked out alone, but one brave warrior joining him in a selfless motion.

The two journeyed, but there came a time when the man awoke to find himself alone with only the beast, lost from his companion. Somehow, in his addled brain, he had lead the beast far off his path and away from his companion, who must have turned for but a few moments and lost track of them.

The beast was prone to cry for its home, its den of fiendish matters. Louder as it approached it, but more insistently the farther it roamed from it. Incessantly, the beast began to whine, though quiet, to its unwilling master. Its seducing call still made no mark upon the man's mind to want evil, but it still feasted upon it, and him, body and soul. The man tried to find the path once more, but too far he had gone and now, his mind grew more addled and dizzy. A sickness set upon the man from weariness. Lost, ill, the man wandered and still wanders, with no key to the path. Lost, still, the man and the beast are both barred from fate, unable to abandon each other, tied by something deeper than both of them.

[ Keeping to himself far outside the edge of the village has benefits and deficits. There is a sense of safety. There is a sense of loneliness. He feels far less selfish. He is only in the loosest terms a cook. It gives him time to think. It gives him time to THINK.

But worst, and what can drive even a thin and strange hobbit into the midsts of humans and other folks near as much as a lack of rich, savory foods, is a lack of a good pint.

It has been far, far too long, at that, since Frodo has felt the thick froth of a good ale on his tongue, and tonight, despite all the talk of their captors acting up, he has ambled his way back through the town, hood up and over his curly hair, and found his way to the bar.

So, after finding the stools a might bit too high and in need of a climb, which he is almost accustomed to, as many places have no furniture of suitable size for a hobbit, Frodo has somehow found himself fully and physically amongst people again, almost hoping to find out what influences these unknown, 'higher' forces have upon the people here. Giles had warned him, but he is too curious a creature, even with all the motivations and energies sapped from him. He will be observing, and with a bit of alcohol in his stomach, much more willing to socialize than normal.

He is no Took, but even a hobbit like Frodo still loosens in a warm atmosphere. ]

[ And here sets out one of the smaller New Feathers, from the shops and from the town and from all the buildings, he is walking. With a bag over his shoulder, Frodo goes, trying to bring as little attention to himself as he can.

How he longs to stay in a warm bed, here, and amongst the sounds of people. Mr. Baggins, he knows better. The subtle jingle of the chain around his neck is enough to remind him that, no matter how quiet, how distant and blurred the will of the Ring might be, he cannot risk laying madness on these people. Even Sam, in his steadfast loyalty, and Galadriel, in her beauty and wisdom, had their minds drawn, even if just a little, by the ring. As kind as their faces and offers are, would they really be strong enough to keep their hands and minds stayed against its seduction?

There is no need to test these poor people with such a thing. It is his burden.

So Frodo has decided to settle himself in a camp of his making, outside of the village, but, he hopes, somewhere away from this beast that wanders the forest. Where? He does not know... but wandering is a part of Frodo's stretched-too-big world, now, so he will bear a bit of exploration.

He will be passing through the town with his large bag and a somber smile, a sprig of grass in his mouth and a pub song quiet in his throat. Though he might be hesitant, feel free to stop him to chat or ask what a small child is doing wandering around with no shoes on. ]

    Sam? Samwise Gamgee?

... What an awful mistake I've made. Things all went black, and a sharp pain filled me, deep in my back and heart and encompassed me whole. This place, it isn't the place I left. This is not the tunnel, not even the mountain pass.

This strange book, and these strange wings... what has happened to me? More aches, pains unfamiliar, are stuck in me, now. They run not as deep, but are strong enough for remembering. My task... no guide, no companion, my Sam... not even the voice in my head to give me any guide. The weight of the eye is gone, but now what am I to do?

Sam, oh Sam, I'm so sorry... I'm so sorry...

    Character

    Name: Frodo Baggins
Fandom: Lord of the Rings (Movies)
    Gender: Male
Age: Thirty three (Taking into account the seventeen years don't
    Time Period: After Shelob's bite.
    Wing Color: Green
    History: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frodo_Baggins
    Personality:

Frodo is described as being quiet, gentle and kind-hearted at the beginning of his tale. He is someone who is peaceful, keeps to himself, and dreams of things beyond his home, which, for a hobbit, is very bizarre. He does enjoy his comfortable place, but Frodo always desired more. Frodo is someone who dreamed of adventure and excitement.

But Frodo's adventure has left him scarred. Though he is not yet finished with it, there is much damage that has been done to him, physically, spiritually and emotionally. Though he is still, at heart, gentle and kind, his temper has grown shorter and he has grown quite paranoid. He has fits of delirium due to the ring and his own mental damage and he often spaces out or wanders away from people on his own. While he is not particularly antisocial, he seems to drift from groups and conversations more than he ever has. He gets lost in his own head and often needs help getting back to reality, away from the draw of the ring and the troubles inside him.

Frodo is too trusting of those he feels can relate to him. He feels so lost and alone in his burden that he will latch to the words of those that seems to know what it is to carry a burden, like Gollum, and hangs onto their word in a hope that he will not feel quite so isolated. Even if he is introverted for a hobbit, he does not like the feeling of being alone.

Frodo is quite brave in his burden. He has fear, of course, and doubts himself, even admitting, once or twice, that he's not sure he can complete it or survive, but he is still a person who is honest and insists he is the one that has to bear it and will risk his own destruction to save his friends, and the Shire, from suffering things far worse.

Strengths: Mental: Frodo's mental strength is in his ability to resist the ring. The ring tempts the mind and the heart and for most, it only takes one glance for the ring to take them completely. Frodo endures, with only a few slips, through months, possibly years, of travel. He has a strong enough mind to accomplish something even some of the highest creatures can not.

Physical: Frodo, as a hobbit, is a sturdy creature. His body can take quite a bit of abuse. He's hardy and can climb fairly well. His feet are leathery enough on the bottom that he doesn't need to wear shoes to travel.

Emotional: Frodo is quite loyal and his heart is kind and seeks the good in others, like Strider when the others were unsure of him. He is brave and adventurous, though his wonderment has been lost since the terrors of his journey affected him.

Weaknesses: Physical: Frodo has little to no physical strength, having only enough to really wrestle someone his own size. He has no sword skills and often is sickly and aches from the wound he received from the Witch King. His neck is marred from the scars rubbed into his neck from the ring.

Mental: He has been weakened mentally by the stress of the ring, suffering PTSD or a form of it due to the trauma. He is very paranoid about others, due to the constant threat of them turning on him due to the ring.

Emotional: Frodo is pretty broken at this point and time. He can't really recover, emotionally, from what he's been through. He tries to smile when he can, but he is quite sad and distant quite a bit of the time, troubled by all the weight on his shoulders.

Samples (ALL samples must be set in Luceti-verse.)

    First Person:

    Sam? Samwise?

    Third Person:

When Frodo Baggins awakes, no cold fills his body. The warm light hits his skin, and with the poison gone from his body and Shelob's bite nothing but a scar, now, he awakes with a groan. His whole body aches and he swears his bones are jelly. It takes a moment to move and the first thing that does is not a familiar movement.

His back flexes strangely and a gentle waft of air hits his battered spine like the kiss of a faerie.

He has no thoughts in his head. There is no way he could think, now, as the familiarity of the feel of grass returns to him. The barrenness of the grass and the harsh cold leave him as swift as a current as he grows aware of what he's settled on. Surely, he has died. Surely, he is lost in another of Galadriel's dreams. This comfort, this warms and the swaying sounds of trees, was long gone from him. How can his mind even make such an image?

His eyes open, slow and difficult, but the lids part and he moves in slow, lumbering flexes of muscles to kneel.

First, he checks for the ring, which feels oddly light as he touches it in relief. His shirt, he realizes, Sting and much of the rest of him is gone. Only a pair of pants, something familiar to the bedding clothes he wore in Rivendell, remain on him. He can see the scars on his skin and he almost lurches a bit. They're hard to see.

He raises up, slow and dreamy and flimsy as a struggling sapling, and looks around him.

"Where have I gone to? What has happened to me?"
